Old farmer’s never die; 30 years after leaving our South Dakota farm we once more have pigs. The fifty new chicks (layers and fryers) arrive in two weeks so by the end of June we will be officially farmers again.
We brought the two barrows home in our farm van nestled in straw bales. Other than a few grunts of curiosity they seemed to have no complaints and have settled in their new home by rustling into the straw and immediately taking a nap. By the end of the week they will have a good sized outside space in the sun and once we get the electric wire organized they will have long areas of pasture for roaming.
