A Winter Day at Indigo House

It’s been a warm (65 degree!), muddy, overcast, shaggy winter day in my yard; weather just perfect for pruning and leaf raking. There are two whopping big brush piles waiting to be burned when the wind dies down.

This is the season to look at all the bones of the land cause come spring here in the mountains the foliage of the green brier, sassafras, honeysuckle, and grasses blur the edges into mounds of greenery. Even Doyle’s River across the road from my house is looking chilly and drear.

The reward of doing my outside stint is getting make cookies when I come back inside!! AND just as I finished my job it started to sleet/hail so I have every excuse to retire to the kitchen!
